In 1899 in a small corner of Balboa Park near Upas Street was a nine-hole golf course with sand greens. Known only in those days as "The Country Club" hard to believe but this was the second clubhouse.
In 1914 the club was forced to move to make way for the French Exposition at Balboa Park. In 1912 sporting goods giant AG Spaulding built this magnificent clubhouse at Point Loma. SDCC shared both the clubhouse and the golf course until 1921.
Club moves to Chula Vista.
October 21 1960, President Eisenhower visited the San Diego Country Club and gave speech to the Rotary Club.
In July of 1964 SDCC hosted the US Women's Open Championship won by Mickey Wright.
In 1989 the clubhouse was completed. It was then, and continues to be the hub of activity for the members and the entire South Bay.
